getting picky wif it

2 weeks ago today we were finishing our last-minute packing to see kara & jon in seattle. it was such a great trip! the pics start in seattle, b/c traveling with 2 kids does not allow for any extra hands to snap shots on the way. here's merian getting in some quality uncle jon time.
kara converted henry-- he's a true seattle native now, complete with coffee addiction.

merian...staring up in wonder at the star of music.

world's tiniest ponytail.

henry's 2 favorite sights in seattle...1) the space needle and 2) the troll
we also got to see the ballard locks-- henry was pretty enthralled with watching the ship sink down.

case then taught henry the art of rolling down steep, grassy hills. near the end he went so fast he got some air time.

you can tell which pics henry took, b/c he's looking up at the adults. (see if you can count how many pics henry the photographer took...)

on sat we took a train ride near snoqualmie falls-- it was beautiful. and chilly.
we also got to meet & hang out with some of their seattle friends. here's amy w/merian-- so sweet.
the train ride was where henry's flu kicked in for the first time...poor guy. and we learned the valuable lesson that airports & planes have a microbial world that needs to be feared. next time we fly we won't encourage henry to suck on everything he comes into contact with, so we can all escape the swine flu. what a great gift to bring the fam in seattle.

henry did make it into this shot. he's under the red blanket, passed out with a fever...and we're about to scurry back to the hotel to get him in his bed!
on monday the boys were feeling a bit better, so we went to the zoo.

this penguin really liked henry. here's the farewell kiss.
playing an insanely large guitar.

and that was seattle. good family time in with kara & jon-- and we got a break to go see a beautiful city. so much fun!

the kids had their first bath together the other day-- they both loved it. henry liked merian's bathwater better and would have climbed in with her had i let him.

merian woke up with this hairstyle last week. no lie. no mousse or other products were used. this is her natural babyhawk, as mom calls it.

this week merian figured out how to grab her feet...

today mom & dad left for the holy land trip that they've been planning for a lifetime. i'm so pumped for them!
oh, and here's one of henry's favorite pasttimes. hanging with ethel, our sweet neighbor.
guess i should explain that title....casey woke henry up from a nap the other day and had this conversation:

h: are we having mac n' cheese for dinner tonight?
c: nope
h: good. because i don't like mac n' cheese. i get picky wif it.

ps. i posted 3 of the pics henry took. i skipped the others...they might make you dizzy.
